This week, we go back 70 years and pay a visit to a small one bedroom apartment in New York City. It’s the middle of summer and L.B Jeffries, stuck and bored in his apartment with leg cast, watches his neighbours through binoculars while the beautiful and ever so graceful Lisa, played by the stunning Grace Kelly pays him regular visits. She waltzes around his apartment wearing the height of 1950's fashion, buys him an extravagant lobster dinner and inevitably becomes his partner in solving a potential crime. 

This charming and interesting movie has, as we put it “cozy mystery vibes”, and has us reminiscing about a simpler time. During this episode we discuss feeling sentimental about what it would be like to live in a world, pre modern entertainment, where all you could do to the pass the time while stuck in your apartment, was to look out at your eccentric New York City neighbours.

This week we take a break from our mini series to talk about Wes Anderson’s new film Asteroid City! Lovisa talks about her love for Wes Anderson, his unique aesthetic and distinct style, and how even though she had trouble understanding this movie, he always creates worlds that she wants to live in. Meanwhile, Gustav discusses the movie's somewhat confusing storyline, jokes about what it would be like to sit in a diner with Jason Schwartzman, and argues that something real and vulnerable was missing at it's core. This leads to us reminiscing about some of our favourite Wes Anderson movies, that showcase the sweet spot of his talent as a filmmaker. At his very best there in a deep, profound and relatable story at the center, all wrapped up in gorgeous aesthetics. Stay to the end to find out how we rate this movie!

This is the fourth episode of our mini series where we each have chosen movies for the other to watch, that we love, but that the other hasn’t seen before. This week we talk about the extraordinary, fascinating and breathtakingly beautiful Life of Pi. Lovisa discusses how struck she was by the stunning nature shots, and how confusing and trippy she found the plot twist of an alternative story to be, that was revealed towards the end. Meanwhile, Gustav discusses the many different themes and symbols in the movie, speculates on the meaning behind the mysterious carnivorous island and discusses what role faith plays in our lives.

P.S Lovisa would just like you to know how much she hates colonialism, and that while she thought that is was interesting to see this movie take place in French India, she does not condone the fact that it exists.
