🎃🔪 Thirteen movies. Multiple timelines. Several reboots. One seemingly unstoppable Michael Myers.

In this episode of Just That Film Podcast, we take on the entire Halloween franchise, ranking all 13 movies from worst to best.

It all started with John Carpenter’s Halloween in 1978, introducing Michael Myers, Laurie Strode and one of the most iconic horror scores ever written.

What followed was one of cinema’s strangest franchise journeys.

Michael returned for Halloween II, disappeared completely for Season of the Witch, came back for the Thorn era, faced Laurie again in H20, survived Resurrection, was reinvented by Rob Zombie and eventually returned for an entirely new timeline beginning with Halloween (2018).

And yes, somehow Busta Rhymes fighting Michael Myers is part of this history.

We’re ranking:

🎃 Halloween (1978)
🎃 Halloween II (1981)
🎃 Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982)
🎃 Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988)
🎃 Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989)
🎃 Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995)
🎃 Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998)
🎃 Halloween: Resurrection (2002)
🎃 Rob Zombie’s Halloween (2007)
🎃 Rob Zombie’s Halloween II (2009)
🎃 Halloween (2018)
🎃 Halloween Kills (2021)
🎃 Halloween Ends (2022)

Which films have aged brilliantly? Which deserve more love? Which ones would we happily never watch again?

We also discuss Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode, John Carpenter’s original masterpiece, the different versions of Michael Myers, the franchise’s increasingly complicated timelines, Halloween III finally finding its audience, Rob Zombie’s controversial reimagining, “Evil dies tonight!” and the hugely divisive Halloween Ends.

Then comes the difficult part.

🥉 Our third-place film.
🥈 Our runner-up.
🏆 And our choice for the greatest Halloween movie ever made.

How badly will you disagree with our ranking?
