  • Remember God's Mercy, Part 2
The sermon explores the theological foundation of Christian conduct by examining the intervening mercy and grace of God in salvation. It emphasizes that believers were once in spiritual darkness and sin but were saved not by their own deeds, but through the sovereign action of the Trinity. The message highlights the roles of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in providing eternal salvation, regeneration, and renewal. Believers are called to remember their new identity as beloved children, new creations, justified persons, and heirs of eternal life. This divine intervention serves as the basis for living distinctively and godly in the world, reflecting the kindness and love of God.

  • Christ Our Portion
The sermon centers on the enduring mercy and faithfulness of God, drawing primarily from Lamentations 3:21-26 to affirm that the believer's hope rests solely in Christ. It emphasizes that divine compassion is renewed daily, ensuring that God's people are not consumed by their sins but are kept by His power. The message transitions to a theological exposition of Ephesians 1 and Romans 8, arguing that because Christ has authority over all creation and has justified the elect, no external force or internal struggle can separate them from His love. This assurance of security is presented as a source of profound comfort, contrasting the futility of human effort and false idols with the sufficiency of Christ's work. The tone is pastoral and encouraging, urging believers to rest in the knowledge that they are purchased, protected, and destined for glory through the unchanging character of God.

  • Sanctification Questions: Sin and Grace and the Law
After Paul proclaims Justification by Faith Alone in Christ Alone and its guarantee unto glorification in Romans 1-5, he parenthetically deals with the questions of Sanctification that will likely be asked. "If I am justified by Christ's works alone by grace that is greater than my sin, why do I care about sin at all now?" "If Christ has fulfilled the Law of God in my place, why do I care about the Law at all now?" Paul uses four questions in all to discuss the relationship of sin and grace in Romans 6 and then sin and the law in Romans 7. In summary, we find motivation and obligation to grow in sanctification because those who are justified in Christ have a New Identity in Christ, a New Master of Christ, a New Relationship with the Law, and a New Struggle with the Law. Romans 6-7 – "Sanctification Questions" I. Sin and Grace (Rom 6) ---A. New Identity (Rom 6:1-14) ---B. New Master (Rom 6:15-23) II. Sin and Law (Rom 7) ---A. New Relationship (Rom 7:1-12) ---B. New Struggle (Rom 7:13-25)

  • Why Faith Alone Matters
Paul continues driving home the point that justification before God is by faith alone, and now uses Abraham as the example. But why does Paul keep hammering home this point? Why is it so important that Christians understand that justification is by faith alone and not by faith+works?
