This is a brief summary/timeline of what my first two relationships looked like. Lasting 4 years straight, 2 years each, from age 17 to 21, I was held captive by my mentally and emotionally abusive relationships. I missed the whole time period where you "find yourself." Instead, I was defending who I was and what I wanted, which I didn't even truly know what those things were at the time, but I knew enough. I feel like I lost out on so much those years, and i know i did. If I regret anything, that would be it. Not spending the time with my family and friends, the people that mattered, and wasting it on mental games and my brain being turned to mush. Now, at 22, I've been through even more after that, but I feel as if I am finally emerging enough to start knowing more about myself.
