In your teens and twenties you are time rich and generally cash poor and free to do whatever you want to do, if only you had the cash.

In your mid 50s upwards you are generally time rich and hopefully at last have put aside some savings. If you research and plan well, it is possible to shop around and get really good value for money. It is important to work within your budget. There are travel deals out there, it is just a matter of persevering to find them. Alternately, you can wait and let the inheritance taxman deal with it !

If you started family young like us or have no family or like us were relieved of parental caring responsibilities due to their early passing (another reminder to do it while you can), then re-adopt your 20 year old free spirit and go for it.

Luckily during the 2000s we as an Irish couple did not succumb to the lure of over investment in property etc, which devastated the retirement pot for many.

Our short videos are our experience of different holiday types since we were 50 (back in 2006).

We decided back then to travel widely and to prioritise travel as the next stage in our lives.

If any of our videos/podcasts can be of use to the viewer/listener then great. If of no use to you then rest assured we enjoyed all the holiday types featured.

In fact, we liked them so much that we both retired aged 60 (2016 -2017) to really concentrate on vacationing.

Some people our age swear by the bar stool experience. Others the cruising experience and even more prefer the garden and the television  as a means of achieving fulfilment.

We prefer to embrace all of the above interspersed with frequent trips far and wide.

We will always try to leave the viewer with our sense of the place, some of our recommendations for things to do and finally our stand out must see if you ever find yourself in that place.

Stress doesn’t rise or diminish over our lifetime, it simply changes in its causes and its nature. We can’t stress-proof our life, unfortunately, but we can learn how to deal with it in the best way possible.

Travelling in retirement is great, however, being at home is harder.

Facing a blank schedule, and finding things to fill in those blanks for some, can be the toughest part of retirement.

As we reach a certain age and start fretting about retirement, many of us forget about one of the best resources for retirement advice: the people we most trust.

“Any time you have a major life transition you should seek out counsel”.  Our blogs, we feel, should offer some possible suggestions towards finding challenging learning opportunities that are stretching but definitely achievable.

The transition to retirement isn’t always easy. There can be a loss of identity; financial woes; and the dreaded boredom. Such negatives get a lot of attention—leading many people to say they never plan to retire.

But there’s another side to this story, one that isn’t heard as often. And that is the one told by the many people who love retirement. These retirees speak of finally having a chance to learn who they are without a defined work week or being defined by a job title.

We propose doing BLOGs on all of our retirement interests to date and in doing so we hope in sharing these that we may encourage other retirees, like ourselves, to step outside your comfort zone and challenge themselves with these or similar learning opportunities……….!

Teaching Very Young Children and Older Adults Computers: A Journey into Digital Literacy

In today’s digital age, introducing young children to computers has become as fundamental as teaching them the alphabet. With technology seamlessly woven into every aspect of life, early exposure to computers equips children with essential skills for future success. 

Children and Older adults are being constantly bombarded with the only option afforded to them of just being a computer end users. Men's Sheds have become a cornerstone of community life across Ireland, originating in Australia.
