All the letters of the alphabet gather at the library for the "Alphabet Hide-and-seek Championship." Letter a states the rules:  Letters can hide in any word—because any letter can be a silent letter. Letter k is famously silent in words like “knee” and “knife,” so Letter a chooses Letter k to be “it” first.  Letter k (along with Letter z) searches, finding letters hidden in all kinds of words.  Letter c hides in “science.” Letter x hides in “xylophone.” Letter h is in“ghost.” They find every letter, except crafty Letter a. Finally the find her hidden as a silent a in the word “board”. Letter a declares herself champion. But can Letter a really be the hide-and-seek champion if Letter k didn’t get to hide?
