All the letters of the alphabet gather at the library for the "Alphabet Hide-and-seek Championship." Letter a states the rules:  Letters can hide in any word—because any letter can be a silent letter. Letter k is famously silent in words like “knee” and “knife,” so Letter a chooses Letter k to be “it” first.  Letter k (along with Letter z) searches, finding letters hidden in all kinds of words.  Letter c hides in “science.” Letter x hides in “xylophone.” Letter h is in“ghost.” They find every letter, except crafty Letter a. Finally the find her hidden as a silent a in the word “board”. Letter a declares herself champion. But can Letter a really be the hide-and-seek champion if Letter k didn’t get to hide? Tick-tock, tick-tock. What does that sound make you feel? Letters a and z enjoy the tick-tock of a clock, but it makes Letter c sad. Hearing words like “tick-tock” and “clock” makes Letter c feel unimportant, since he takes on the sound of Letter k. In Part 1 of a 2-part episode, Letter y sees a sign stating that vowels are A, E, I, O, U, and sometimes Y. Sometimes? Sometimes? That makes Letter y feel left out. His friend, Letter z, is always a consonant. And Letter a is always a vowel. Letter y is sure that “always” is always better. Letter a tries to explain that “always” is not always better.
