Kaina Martinez is the eldest of Georgia Alvarez’s three living children, and loving sister to several other siblings. She grew up in Seine Bight- a Garifuna village in Southern Belize. Despite many obstacles in her path she thrives. Giving up isn’t an option to not become. Apart from being known as an athlete who represents Belize in numerous sports but more so track and field, Kaina considers herself an advocate for changes and therefore live her life in such manner. She is the founder of Kaina Martinez Track and Field Games. A grass-roots program she uses to help children 4yrs to 14yrs express themselves through sports and she also uses as a catalyst to help children to recognize and realize their potential, be it in sport or other dreams they hold. She also voluntarily serves several organizations, that works with addiction, domestic violence, impaired driving just to mention a few of the social causes volunteers. Kaina also serves Belize in the military force, as a member of the Belize Coast Guard. aina is the female Belizean Olympian whom for the first time in Belize’s history to make it to another round in the Olympic games. Kaina is also the first Belizean athlete to receive a full athletic scholarship at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Where she earned several accolades on the track and in the classroom. She graduated with the distinction of Suma cum Laude and is the holder of two Bachelors of Art Degrees -Sociology and Speech Communication. In 2019, Kaina also earned her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling on the same athletic scholarship she received added with an Academic scholarship.
