When the going gets tough, trust in yourself all the more. Always remember, even if we lose hope in ourselves God never loses hope in us. Even if we feel the world is abandoning us, God holds our hand all the more tightly. So why fear anything, anyone? After all, it's just one dark night. It will pass. And dawn it will be soon.

And always remember, the darkest hour is just before dawn.

According to research by recruitment business company Taggd in association with CII and Sunstone Eduversity, one in four people hired this year in India are likely to be gig or contractual workers. That’s up significantly from 2020 when the hiring intent for flexible workforce was 18%.

A report by Reuters earlier this week about how Amazon is allegedly "favoring" a few big sellers on its platform has kicked up a big debate in India on the functioning of big players in the e-commerce space especially with regards to providing a level playing field to smaller sellers.

A few days back Twitter announced that it had purchased Revue, a newsletter platform for writers and publishers. Facebook too is reported to be working on something like that and both are expected to give competition to Substack and a few others already in this business. With more and more people opting for better quality content and spending on it via subscriptions - social media platforms seem to have noticed to strong shift and are trying to be a part of this game before it's too late for them.

So it looks like that attention economy based social media now making a conscious shift towards serious non-intrusive, subscription-based content? Listen in!

Recently, the UC Berkeley physics department received $35,000 from an anonymous donor to create the Sushant Singh Rajput Memorial Fund in Physics. SSR was a National Physics Olympiad winner and was passionate about astrophysics as well. UC Berkeley is known for its astrophysics graduate program and the fund will help support campus graduate students studying astrophysics.

In my opinion, spreading education, enabling someone to study further could be the best tribute to anyone's memory. Listen in to why I think so!

India has slipped two places to 53rd position in the latest Economist Intelligence Unit’s (EIU) 2020 Democracy Index global ranking. India's overall score has fallen from 6.9 in 2019 to 6.61 in the Index that provides a snapshot of the current state of democracy worldwide for 167 countries.

India has been classified as a 'flawed democracy' along with countries such as the US, France, Belgium and Brazil. This means that India and the US - the world's largest and biggest democracies - are "flawed democracies", as per EIU's report. Time for some deep introspection?

According to the just-released Oxfam’s ‘Inequality Virus Report,’ India's billionaires increased their wealth by 35% during the lockdown whereas millions lost their jobs during the same period. The first casualties when there is a wide gap in income levels is the attention to healthcare and education, mainly by the people at the lowest strata of society. It is time we put our priorities right and fix our system now!
