Relationships are a lot like the air we breathe. Everywhere we turn, everything we do seems to involve a relationship of some kind. Our relationships are pretty much the key for a happy life. I don’t know about you, but sometimes it seems like everything is in a real mess! Whether it is the world around us, or in our own lives. I think all of us enjoy being close to someone we love and who loves and cares about us. It gives us a sense of warmth and security. I have come to feel that God also wants to have a close and loving relationship with us. We just celebrated the awesome happenings of the Easter resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus. Easter Sunday is here. It’s easy to think of Easter in terms of family dinners or Easter Egg hunts or candy and so on. Easter is a celebration of a very powerful message. It is free and it doesn’t hurt. The Easter message is about God’s love for us, that was translated into action! That action was His Son, Jesus, coming to be our Lord, Savior and best friend! The Pledge of Allegiance is something that we all learned as young people. It’s about making a commitment or promise to something, like our flag and country. We all deal with temptations every day of our lives. Thankfully, most are little ones, like eating too much. But other times temptations have the potential of hurting ourselves or someone we love. And if our own weaknesses aren’t enough, we also have those who tempt us. Such as our friends egging us on, or Satan, the evil one. Satan is like a prowling lion, just waiting for just the right time to pounce! But we do have a champion in Jesus, our Lord and Savior! That’s what our message is about this week. I think we all have a human tendency to hold a grudge, or keep “score” of when we have been wronged. But somehow each time we hold a grudge against someone it adds a weight to our own selves. After a while these weights become a heavy load. A heavy load that impacts our attitudes and robs us of our joy of living.
