Kalif Gordon and Mark hames are the founders of 2nd admendment Guns and Accessories in Las Vegas, Nevada. Kalif made the move after many successful years in the Pharmaceutical industry and 8 years in the US Coast Guards. Kalif met his business partner Mark a retired Air force Munitions Ammo Troop with 32 years of military experience and they have been running 2nd Amendment for 2 successful years now. 2nd Amendment has focused on customer service as their main goal and they back that up with superior knowledge and determination that you will grow with their firearms family.

Do you own a gun? Our guest Kalif Gordon is the co-founder of 2nd amendment gun shop and he wants to educate you and put guns into responsible hands. In episode 54 Dave talks with Kalif about how to manage a new business, achieve goals, make customer service your most important focus, and to help you keep up with the ever changing world of business.
What is your biggest concern for starting a new business? I think we all have this concern and Kalif hit it on the head when he said his number one worry was going from a steady income to supporting himself. He also worried about the experience and knowledge he would need to obtain as he came from another background, and how you keep the doors open when you are low in capital.
How important is the customer relationship to your new business? If you treat people the way you want to be treated, always show respect, bend over backwards and don't be afraid to learn from your customers are four great ways to keep that relationship you need to survive. Kalif's most successful tip is to make your customer your friends, because they can sell any product, it's the service that counts.
Are you reaching your business goals? Once you open your doors you have overhead, personnel to pay and you need to make sure you take care of it. One way we wanted to hit our goals was to give an experience in our business. People want to feel welcomed and in a gun shop it is very important. Everyone that comes through the door takes a piece a piece of 2nd amendment with them even if they purchase or not. They key is to educate your customers as much as possible.
What is the biggest challenge in business to overcome? Balancing time between work and family. Then trying to find the right personnel is vital because it takes time and money to get the employees up to speed. With the wrong hire it ends up costing much more.
How do you keep up in your Industry? Be assertive, stay on top of your market, see what your customers are asking for, talk with your distributors, get out and try conventions, etc.
