  • The Death Sentence
    Sermon Series:  Stretch
    Sermon Title:  The Death Sentence
Sermon Scripture: Ephesians 5:21-27; John 12:1-11,20-26
Big Idea:  The first step in stretching your marriage is dying to self.
    Ephesians 5:21-27
Have a marriage like Jesus and the Church
    Share truth
    Lay down your life
    Paint a picture
    John 12:1-11
Leave no doubt, you’re in or you’re out
    No backup plan
    Move forward
Put your money where your mouth is
    John 12:20-26
    Bury the old self
Nothing and no one before Him
Nothing and no one between you two
The miracle of marriage is how two individuals become one.  One in Christ, one in action, and one on mission.
What new action will you take this year to be a couple that moves closer to being like Jesus?  _______________________________

  • Rubber Made
Big Idea:  If you want your money to stretch farther, stretch your mind to understand it belongs to God, not man.
What do I do with money? (Give it, save it, spend it)
What shouldn’t I do with money? (Don’t make it a god, don’t love it)
    Verses about money: Proverbs 13:11,Proverbs 10:4,Deuteronomy 28:12,2 Thessalonians 3:10,Malachi 3:10,Matthew 19:21,Proverbs 22:7,Romans 13:8,Malachi 3:10,Matthew 6:21,Ecclesiastes 5:10,2 Corinthians 9:6-7
The first rule of stretching is pulling.
The second rule of stretching is limitations.
The third rule of stretching is letting go.
    Colossians 3:1
If we fail to look up, we will miss the direction God is pointing us in.

  • Forward in Motion
Sermon Series:  Christmas in FocusSermon Title:  Forward in MotionSermon Scripture: Hebrews 12:1-2, Luke 1:26-38Big Idea:  Christ in focus this Christmas requires us to remember, unload, and stick to the plan.
    Here’s what we know…
    Luke 1:26-27
A virgin named Mary was betrothed to a man named Joseph, who was from the line of David.
    Isaiah 7:14
    Jeremiah 23:5
    Luke 1:28-30
The Lord was with her and she found favor with God.
    Genesis 6:7-8
    Exodus 33:17
    Luke 1:31-33
Mary will give birth to the Son of God.
    Isaiah 7:14
    Matthew 1:21-23
    Luke 1:34-35
The birth of Jesus was a miracle.
    Isaiah 7:14
    Luke 1:36-37
    Nothing is impossible with God.
    Isaiah 43:13
    Daniel 4:35
    Luke 1:38
    Mary obeyed.
    Here’s what we speculate…
Mary was a teenager who probably dealt with persecution in carrying a baby that was not her husband to be’s child.
    Hebrews 11:1-3,6,10,13
    Hebrews 12:1-2
Therefore, make a decision, with precision, to get on mission.

    Our new burden is righteousness
For God’s Word to be profitable, we need to believe the prophecy. Read, Know. Grow.

  • Reliability
Sermon Series:  Christmas in FocusSermon Title:  ReliabilitySermon Scripture: 2 Timothy 2:2, Luke 2:8-20Big Idea:  The reliable account of Jesus’ birth was to be shared.
    2 Timothy 2:2
The Gospel is to be shared with witnesses.
    Angels – In the company of God – Job 1:6;
    Shepherds – Symbolic or practical? – Psalm 23:1, Matthew 9:36; Genesis 47:3-4
Why do you think Jesus chose angels and shepherds for this occasion?
    Witnesses must be reliable.
    Angels – Genesis 19 story (1,10-11,13); Obedient – Psalm 103:20
    Shepherds – 2:8 – doing their job, 15-16 – talked and ran
What are the qualities of a reliable witness of the Gospel today?
Reliable means they believe the message.
    Angels – Luke 2:10
    Shepherds – Luke 2:20
What does the message of Jesus coming to the world mean to you?
