Sermon Big Idea: For peace to come, there has to be chaos.

Jeremiah 1:16

The Israelites rejected God by worshiping other gods.

2 Kings 25:1-2

The Israelites were removed by God from his land of peace.

Jeremiah 4:1-4

The Israelites were told God would relent if they would repent.

Ezra 1:1,5, Nehemiah 1:8-9

The Israelites were restored because of God’s faithfulness.

Mark 12:1-11

The tenants rejected God’s covenant.The tenants tried to avoid removal.The tenants were called to repent three times.

Mark 15:42-43

One tenant was restored because he realized who true peace is.

Our preparation for peace is identifying the chaos of sin, and the consequences of sin, so we can repent of our sin and turn to the Prince of Peace.

Sermon Title:  Promised Peace

Scripture:  Isaiah 9:1-7

Big Idea:  When Jesus came into the world, many things were exposed for what they were and what they could be.  Jesus is the place of peace because of the promise of his coming and the promises He makes.

Peace exposes the darknessPeace exposes exceeding joyPeace exposes the yoke of slaveryPeace exposes eternity

True peace is when we see everything in a new Light, which comes with a new life.

Titus 2:1-5

Big Idea:  Godly Grandparenting is being active in your growth to be like Jesus and being active in projecting it to your grandkids.

Grandpas have…

A mind that thinks clearlyA stature that causes kids to look up to youA heart that cares about the future even though you’ll be gone

Grandmas have…

A life that is holy (hee-er-op-rep-ace)A mouth that encouragesA heart for mentoringRuth 4

Grandparents these days are a reflection of their grandkids future.  How bright it is depends on you.

Big Idea:  Parents need to be watchful but also courageous in action and train our kids to be unstained by the world.

Raising our kids plan…

What are they hearing?What do they believe?Who is lord to them?What direction are they running in?What have they immersed themselves in?What are they obedient to?

Love don’t lavish – 1 Cor. 16:13-14

Educate don’t exasperate – Ephesians 6:4

Advocate don’t abdicate – Mark 9:14-29

Discern don’t drag – Proverbs 1:7; Hebrews 5:14; James 1:5

God’s Mission, Message, and Method

We live in a constantly changing society…  However, there are three things that have not changed since Paul wrote these words to Timothy in I Timothy 2:1-7

What is God’s Mission? The one thing God gets more excited about than anything else is to SEEK and SAVE the lost… I Timothy 2:3-4

What is God’s Message? JESUS …I Timothy 2:5-6

Finally, What is God’s Method? PEOPLE I Timothy 2:7

“People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care!”

Threat to faith

Know they are hard-wired for faith – instead of helping them be what they want to be, start with helping them be who God created them to be.

Big Idea:  The results Jesus expects of us are clear

The King decides and divides

V. 34-40

The sheep humbly helped the hurting

V. 41-46

The goats independently indulged in serving themselves

Set your gaze on the goal of living for Jesus.

Expect He will put in your path those you need to help.

Enter into every situation with faith and fully surrendered.

Faith gives us the vision to see the works God has prepared for us.

Full surrender gives us the motivation to act on the works God has prepared for us.

Acknowledge the giftCreate opportunitiesTrust that God will make it profitable

Knowing the Master is the motivating factor.
