Luke 2:1-7
It was an inconvenient time to travel.
It was an inconvenient time to be with child.
It was an inconvenient time to give birth.
Habakkuk 2:3 – God appoints time
Ecclesiastes 3:1 – There is a right time for everything
Romans 5:6 – God’s time is just right
1 Peter 5:6 – God’s time is proper
Galatians 4:4-5 – the fullness of time had come
Galatians 6:9 – if we don’t give up, we’ll reap
Our schedule steals Christmas by deceiving us into thinking everything is more important than the one thing we should be celebrating at Christmas.
Judges 7:2 – God’s timing is so He is given glory.

A question and answer sermon (45:34-1:01:09) by Andy Bratton, addressing questions about giving, tithing, and financial stewardship. Key points include:
Defining terms: An offering is anything given to help someone or God’s church, including time and giftedness. A tithe specifically means 10% (46:17-48:05).
Tithing as an Old Testament teaching: While tithing is an Old Testament teaching and part of the law, so are concepts like faith, love, grace, and mercy, which still apply today (49:01-52:01). Jesus did not abolish tithing but corrected the manner of tithing (52:22-54:50). Andy argues that 2 Corinthians 9:1-5, often used to suggest tithing is not required, is about “over and above” offerings for other churches, not a replacement for tithing (54:37-57:14).
Where to give offerings and tithes: Andy advocates bringing tithes to the church, citing Malachi 3:10 (58:11-59:59), which encourages bringing the full tithe to the storehouse for blessings. He views the church as the modern-day “storehouse” for crowdfunding God’s kingdom.
The example of Mary anointing Jesus: The story of Mary anointing Jesus with costly ointment (Mark 14:3-9) is used to illustrate that giving to God’s work is not a “waste” and that prioritizing giving to God is important (1:00:12-1:01:09).
