Do you ever feel like there’s something more inside of you? Something that you’re not quite sure how to access, and that you’re uncertain of its potential? This is your inner strength, hidden in plain sight and waiting for you to discover it.
It’s a power that’s harder to unlock than most people think. Even worse, many of us don’t even recognize it’s inside us, or even that it exists. As the motivational speaker Les Brown famously said, “It’s not over until you win.” With that in mind, let’s explore what exactly it means to “unlock” your hidden strength, and the possible monumental impact it can have on your life.
The Starting Point
The starting point to unlocking your hidden strength is determining that it exists in the first place. Of course, you might not know what that means, and that’s okay. While the path might not be clear, it’s important to take the leap and find out what it can do for you. That might include a radical shift in perspective, an attempt to expand your comfort zone, or simply having a conversation with someone you respect. This could mean that you’ll have to leave your old self behind and attempt something new, but our strength is an adventure in and of itself. This effort can mean big and small changes. It’s the kind of transformation that gives rise to inner strength.
The Mindset
So, you’ve decided to dive in and discover what this inner force is all about. Once you have the mindset, it’s all about digging deeper, finding deeper understanding and growing. Part of the process is embracing these moments of vulnerability, which can cause fear, worry and even discomfort. What it boils down to is taking the initiative and having faith that this newfound “strength” will take you places.
By taking leaps of faith and believing that you will uncover potential within yourself, you give yourself permission to explore new ideas, perspectives and ideas. All of this unfolds as you attempt to choose yourself, even when it’s hard. As the Dalai Lama framed it, “Choose to be optimistic, it feels better.” Your optimism will be your guiding light as you delve into this unknown, ultimately determining your experience and your outcome.
