Kids are Less Prepared...
Keep in mind that kids literally do not know how to use their bodies. Most have never ridden a bike, climbed a tree, used a jump rope, or swam. Their bodies are weak, slow, and unfamiliar with movement when they walk in the gym door and gymnastics coaches expect them to do challenging movements within the first six months. Coaches and parents must be patient when kids take time to master gymnastics skills. Coaches should teach drills, and assign useful conditioning. The gymnastics skills will come after basic movements and strength are improved.
