June 20, 2017 Episode 3: Kraig Tyler AKA Liquid Giraffe
Kraig Tyler AKA Liquid Giraffe is a liquid drum and bass DJ who spins at my strip club as well as festivals and parties all over LA. You may be familiar with him from his days in the band Crazy Town, of “Butterfly” fame. We talk Burning Man, running the NY streets with Chloe Sevigny, 90’s raves, resistance fatigue, art as resistance, horizontal democracy and putting on a show at the strip club. Follow his Instagram @liquid_giraffe and check out liquidgiraffe.life for shows!
“Life is fucking hard no matter what and so you can choose to just complain about it being awful the whole time and feel like you’re the victim and you’re nailed to a runaway ski and this is what’s happening and eventually crash at the bottom and, thank god it’s over…Or you can struggle to be like, let’s try to turn it this way a little. It’s way more fun to give a shit.” -Kraig

June 06, 2017 Episode 1: Charity
On the very first episode of The FREEk Show Podcast, I catch up with a close friend, Charity “Bubblewrappe” Redding who is a DJ and sober feminist. We bond over being sober in the strip club and our shared experiences, myself as a stripper and her as an ex-dancer and current strip club DJ. Charity tells tales of ecstasy-fueled stripper orgies, dating a drug dealer and her rock bottom abortion. We talk reprogramming our brains as recovering addicts and victims of childhood abuse. Not to mention, our rewiring as women breaking out of the Patriarchy. Charity explains the downturn the strip industry took after the boom of internet and we talk sympathy for men struggling with knowing their worth as breadwinners in a society where women are living more independently. Listen as we go over the soulmate myth, double standards in the DJ community, the whorearchy and daddy issues. FOLLOW Charity on Instagram, Facebook, Soundcloud and Mixcloud @bubblewrappe!
Special thx to Aaron Kee for the editing, Kraig Tyler for the beat and Morgan Claire Sirene for the art!
