A Home Appliances shop housed in the Opera Square building in Accra has been gutted with fire. Items such as bags, shoes, and other home appliances have been burnt to ashes. GT Bank’s server room has also been affected by the fire.

The Winneba Municipal Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has revealed that some commercial drivers consume substances in their bodies to aid them to drive for long hours. According to the Winneba Municipal Fire Commander, DOIII Kwesi Hughes, preliminary investigations conducted into the Accra-Cape highway accident indicated that the drivers, especially those who drive Mercedes Sprinter and 207 buses have taken 'wee toffee' to help them drive which causes the rampant accidents.

President Nana Akufo-Addo has appointed former Ledzokuku Member of Parliament, Bernard Okoe Boye, as the acting Chief Executive of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA). The appointment takes effect from Monday, May 3.

The Management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has explained the decision to ask over 6,000 students to defer their courses. The Management stated that some of the affected students are playing games with them.

The Minority Leader in Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu, and two other NDC MPs, have filed an injunction at the Supreme Court against the implementation of the Electronic Transfer Levy (e-levy). Mr Iddrisu, Mahama Ayariga and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa are urging the apex court to restrain the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) from implementing the e-levy until the final determination of their suit challenging the constitutionality of its passage by Parliament.

One thousand personnel from the Ghana Police Service have been deployed to provide security for this year’s Kwahu Easter and Paragliding Festival, which begins tomorrow, April 14, 2022. The personnel have been drawn from the National Headquarters, Greater Accra Regional Command, and the Ashanti Regional Police Command to assist their colleagues in the Eastern Region to provide topmost security during the entire festivities.

At least seven persons have drowned on the Volta Lake after their boat capsized during a heavy storm while they were travelling on the Lake last Thursday at Afram Plains North in the Eastern region. The deceased included AkuDzetror, 60, Esther Akorli, 31, Faulting Kpeli, 32, Evelyn Akpaglo, 31, Aku Adanyo, 55, Mary Magic, 39 and Edward Gati, 31.
