A total of 13 people have been confirmed dead in the Appiatse explosion near Bogoso in the Western Region. The incident which occurred as a result of an accident involving a truck conveying explosives for a mining company, a motorcycle and a third vehicle close to an electricity transformer, reduced the town of Appaitse to rubble, killing inhabitants and injuring scores.

An uneasy calm has settled over Nima and Maamobi following a violent clash between the communities’ youth on Tuesday. Residents in the area say they live in fear of reprisal.

Three herdsmen were rescued by the police from being lynched after they were accused by town folks of gruesomely murdering a 15-year-old boy, law enforcement agencies have confirmed. The incident happened around 12noon on Monday, 17 January, 2022 at Nhyiaeso near Ananekrom, a farming community within the Asante Akim North District of the Ashanti Region, according to the Ghana Police Service.

A pastor with the Mega Word Chapel International, Kenneth Mensah, has allegedly set ablaze the house of one of his congregants after stealing an amount of ¢40,000 from the victim. The victim, Rosemond Amoafo, is reported to have been planning to travel to the United Kingdom when she was attacked by the suspect.
