This is one of the streams of our New Release show - Panorama.
It's for music that is grounded in physical instruments, rather than electronic ones.
This episode includes new releases from a handful of amazing Malian female vocalists, as well as Kokoroko, Chronixx, and KOG. The album of the month goes to Rokia Kone's collaboration with Jacknife Lee - Bamanan.

Mick Dagger and Peligro go through their favourite songs from 2020.
Recorded on December 22! Apologies for taking forever to edit and post this!
To mark International Women’s Day, we interviewed recording artist Chel (@itschel), Reggae/Dub selekta Madda Irie (@madda_irie), and young advocate Aisha Setipa (@aishasetipa). They brought in some tracks by the women who inspire them, and so did we.
Peligro, Parice (Pascal and Maurice), the Trap Lord, Stephanie AND Mick Dagger present their favourite love songs for Valentine’s Day!!
"They will walk in two worlds, and their culture will be a gift to their country."
Recorded on 26 January to honour the traditional custodians of the land we live and record on. We share some great work by First Nations artists, and a range of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and voices.
This is far from hopeless and bleak.
There is a vision and a plan for a better future, and we're all invited to walk beside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in this movement.
Peligro was on the airwaves on Diaspora Sounds in December playing new afropop, amapiano and dancehall. Diaspora Sounds airs weekly on Fridays at 9:30pm in Canberra on 2XXfm, at 2xxfm.org,au and on 98.3FM

When a friend asked KR's Roland what music he listens to when trying to concentrate, he didn’t hesitate to say Amapiano. It might seem strange, because it's also great for a party.
This mix was made to demonstrate the driving, motivating aspect of Amapiano.
The sound is so full and balanced that your ears long for nothing else. We find it really harnesses our focus - at once calming and exciting.
KR’s Mick Dagger was live with our friends at Diaspora Sounds on 2XX FM in Canberra a couple of weeks ago. He played us an hour of smooth Amapiano: a fresh new sound from South Africa. To read more about Amapiano, check out the blog at www.kassavaroots.com/podcasts/amapiano
Diaspora Sounds is on every Friday night from 9:30 to 10:30pm AEDT/AEST. You can stream it live at www.2xxfm.com.au, or listen on demand for a few weeks after each show, Diaspora Sounds play the freshest afrobeats each week, to get you ready for your weekend!
Mick Dagger and Roland are chatting about Popcaan's new album, Fixtape, on Kassava Roots Reviews.
This episode is a bit different to what you've heard from KR so far. We let the conversation guide the episode, and play music in between so you can hear what we're talking about. In this episode, we put this album in context by talking about Popcaan's back story, before having a look at the album itself.
