Kassava Roots

Mick Dagger and Roland are chatting about Popcaan's new album, Fixtape, on Kassava Roots Reviews.

This episode is a bit different to what you've heard from KR so far. We let the conversation guide the episode, and play music in between so you can hear what we're talking about. In this episode, we put this album in context by talking about Popcaan's back story, before having a look at the album itself.

To celebrate NHC this weekend, we look at some of Caribbean and African influenced music coming out of the UK over the last year

Here's DYP aka Mick Dagger's club mix of Kuduro and Kuduro-influenced tracks from Angola, South Africa and Portugal, from our special on Kuduro.

Send us a message at @kassavaroots on instagram or [email protected] to find out more about any of the tracks. We'd love to hear from you.

Check out the documentary on our artist profile to find out more about Kuduro!

A special deep dive into Kuduro this episode.

The format is a bit different to the last. It has a 25 minute 'documentary' type section that explores the exciting story of Kuduro, a style of music and dance from Angola.

Then, DYP aka Mick Dagger gives us a ripping 45-minute club mix of beats from Angola, Portugal and South Africa. It baaaaangs.

If you have a moment, check out the short videos in the comments below to get an idea of what Kuduro dance is like - you won't be disappointed.
