I first met Nala when she was a fledgling DJ in Miami, and already by then she was running a DJ school for other women. She moved to her native LA after graduating college and finessed the fuck out a career, going out every night, making meaningful connections with the artists around her and almost never saying no to an opportunity. When COVID-19 shut the world down, she kept hustling, launching TV Party with Richie Panic and bringing that rave vibe to Dirtybird. Now, she's signed to the boutique label and releasing the best music of her career to date!

When it comes to bloghouse, if Glenjamn didn't film it, it probably wasn't that big of a deal. Ever since he filmed Daft Punk's legendary Coachella 2006 performance, he's dedicated his life to documenting the coolest parts of counter culture, from the sweaty L.A. club days of the late 2000s, to Fashion Week Paris with Virgil Abloh. He caught Thomas Bangalter spinning sans helmet at Cinespace in 2009, recorded DJ Mehdi's last concert with Carte Blanche, and he earned all this access by being a genuinely cool fucking dude.

In this episode, I turn the camera on the cameraman and hear how he became the bloghouse era's go-to videographer - and how he plans to turn that footage into a documentary!

I've been a fan of Pusher ever since I discovered "Islands, Waves, Caves, & Skies" in a random Soundcloud mix in 2012. He may have started out as a video game-inspired future bass producer, but he's since evolved through a myriad of stages, writing dance-pop hits like "Clear" and exploring the art of commitment and spontaneity with his Jamuary series, but it's his debut album Stay-At-Home Popstar that sees him put all the pieces of Pusher together into one mind-melting, infectious and tongue-in-cheek nihilistic piece of genius - even his jazz performer past! 

In today's episode, we chat about how Eminem, Frank Zappa, Don Hertzfeldt and r/collapse all inspired this a-pop-calyptic wonder, and we also talk about his rural upbringing and weird patterns of behavior that lead him to fully commit to things like film scoring and, well, Jamuary lol. Madeon is a multi-talented producer, DJ, songwriter and all-around artist who broke onto the scene as a 16-year-old prodigy. Today, he's regarded as one of the top talents in the modern dance and pop realm, landing credits with Lady Gaga, Two Door Cinema Club, Coldplay and Ellie Goulding. 

His sophomore album "Good Faith," released in 2019, is a high-water achievement that pushed his boundaries as a creative, a dreamer and a performer. It was nominated for Best Electronic Album at the Grammys, and the accompanying live show brought Madeon's universe to grand heights.

It was an honor to chat with Madeon, whom I've followed since his "Pop Culture" days. We talked about everything from Daft Punk in concert to his friendship with Porter Robinson, dreams, inspiration, unreleased music in the works, and more!
