Listen in today to get all the “Do’s and Don’ts” when dealing with a difficult person:
1. Know Your Worth.
Do know you both have value in God’s eyes. (John 3:16)
Don’t consider yourself better than the person who is hard to deal with. (Philippians 2:3)
2. Respond in a godly way.
Do practice patience. (Proverbs 19:11)
Don’t let your emotions get the best of you. (Proverbs 15:1)
3. Keep a right attitude.
Do let your attitude demonstrate the fruits of the Spirit. (Galatians 5:22-23)
Don’t let frustration cloud your good judgment. (Ephesians 4:26)
4. Hold yourself accountable.
Do what is honorable and right in the eyes of God. (Romans 12:17-21)
Don’t repay evil for evil or seek revenge. (1 Peter 3:9)
5. Keep Your Heart Clean.
Do extend the same grace to others as God has given you. (Ephesians 4:32)
Don’t let bitterness or resentment take up residence in your heart. (Ephesians 4:31)
6. Admit you don’t see the whole picture.
Do keep in mind, you aren’t aware of everything happening in their life that influences their behavior.
Don’t make judgments based on what you think you know of this person.
7. Pray. Pray. Pray.
Do request a change in your heart towards them and ask Him to show you the way to improve the situation. (James 1:5)
Don’t be prideful. (Proverbs 16:18)
