Munshi premchand ki kahani Qatil मुंशी प्रेमचंद की कहानी कातिल: जाड़ों की रात में धर्मवीर अपनी माँ से बात कर रहा होता है कि यहाँ लोग कितनी जल्दी सो जाते है जबकि यूरोप जैसे देशों में तो इस वक़्त सैर सपाटा किया जा रहा होता है। इसी तरह की बातें दोनों के बीच हो रही होती है। धर्मवीर के पिता की मृत्यु जेल में हुयी थी क्योंकि उन पे राजद्रोहात्मक भाषण देने का अपराध सिद्ध हुआ था । इसके बाद उसकी माँ ने राष्ट़ की सेवा करने की मानो कसम खा ली हो । धर्मवीर ने भी पहले स्वयं सेवकों में खुद को शमिल किया परन्तु जल्द ही वो एक नयी सभा में शरीक हो गया । माँ ने उसकी नयी सभा के बारे में पूछना शुरू किया तो धर्मवीर नयी सभी की तारीफ और कमजोरियों पर बात करने लगा। धर्मवीर बताने लगा कि सिर्फ झूलुस निकालने से आज़ादी न मिलेगी इसके लिए कीमत चुकानी होती है तो माँ ने कहा क्या हम लोगो ने इस आज़ादी के लिए आज तक कोई कीमत नहीं चुकाई, हम जेल गए डंडे खाए। धर्मवीर ने समझाया कि इस तरफ आज़ादी मांगने से अंगेजों को क्या नुकसान हुआ उन्हें तो कोई फर्क नही पड़ा। आज़ादी लेनी है तो अंग्रेजो के दिल में खौफ भरना होगा। धर्मवीर के मुंह से इस तरह की बात सुन उसकी माँ सिहर उठी आखिर अब वही तो सहारा था अपनी माँ का। माँ चिंता के सागर में डूबकी लगाने लगी परन्तु धर्मवीर अपनी बात पर जस का तस रहा। माँ को अब अपने लड़के को सुरक्षित रखने की चिंता सताने लगी और वो भगवान से अपनी बेटे के हृदय परिवर्तन की कामना करने लगी | माँ ने एक बार फिर धर्मवीर को समझाने की निरथक कोशिश की । पुलिस के बड़े अफसर को मारने का हुकुम धर्मवीर को मिला। जब माँ को ये बात पता चली तो उसने एक बार फिर धर्मवीर को समझाना चाहा। इस बार माँ ने मानो धर्मवीर को कुछ पल के लिए उसके पथ से उसे भटका दिया हो पर जल्द ही वो होश में आ गया और अपनी जिद्द पर अडिग हो गया। अपने काम को अंजाम देने से पूर्व धर्मवीर ने भावुक करने वाली बातें अपनी डायरी में लिखी । दोनों वहां पहुँच गए जहाँ घटना को अंजाम देना था । मगर माँ ये देख चौक गयी कि अफसर अकेला नहीं है उसकी पत्नी भी उसके साथ है । उसने अपने बेटे को रोकने की कोशिश की और दोनों में हाथापाई हो गयी जिसमे धर्मवीर के हाथों उसकी ही माँ की हत्या हो गयी । आइए खुलासा डॉट इन में विस्तार से पढ़िए मुंशी प्रेमचंद की कहानी कातिल।
