Producer Katy Lipson has been behind some of the most talked about productions of the last few years. As artistic director of the Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester she has produced a catalogue of shows, some of which have gone on to transfer to London, including Yank!, Hair and Pippin.    She’s a big supporter of new material having produced From Page to Stage, a season of new musicals, as well as the UK premieres of Yank!, Toxic Avenger the musical and The Addams Family.    In this episode we talked about her ambitions for new material, the shows she’d love to revive and her friendship with Broadway composer and lyricist Andrew Lippa. She also used this interview to call on venues like the Royal Court, Young Vic and National Theatre to support and produce more new musicals.     Katy’s production of Pippin is currently running at the Southwark Playhouse in London until 24th March.
