The film is about the misplaced shame and family honor perpetuated in patriarchal culture, which relies on female submissiveness and obedience. It explores this dark topic through an empathetic lens that celebrates sisterhood amidst profound childhood trauma—a lens that is feminist and empowering.

Professor Surinder Singh's motivation is to reveal the joyous spiritual teachings of Guru Nanak in the manner in which they were intended.

He is a musicologist, writer, singer, composer, social reformer, academic and humanitarian, but above all he wishes to teach the sacred science of sound.

He has a humble vision of peace, humanity, happiness and beacons of love experienced through Sikh music. It is a gift that he wants to share through the message of Shabad Guru – the musical realisation of Guru’s wisdom.

Jaspreet Kaur better known as Behind the Netra for her poetry, joins us for another inspiring interview. She is an award-winning Spoken Word Poet from East London with an academic background in History BA and Gender Studies MA and has been voted one of the Top 10 Inspirational Sikh Women in the UK!

She actively works with national governments, corporations and charities alike, such as TED, the UN and women’s networks across the UK, using her poetry and writing to inspire and drive social change. Her TED talk, “How Poetry Saved My Life” is one of many examples of this. She is also an avid humanitarian and is an ambassador for Binti International and Time to Change.
