Tēnā anō tātou! After a couple weeks off with the ‘rona and the subsequent catch ups and birthday weekend I’m excited to announce our next Blockchain Navigators wānanga 6.30pm TONIGHT with Kaye-Maree Dunn.
Kaye-Maree is an amazing community connector and tech entrepreneur, she is the managing director of MEA | Making Everything Achievable and has been at the forefront of indigenous tech developments such as Indigicoin and Āhau: a Whānau Data Platform that helps whānau-based communities (whānau, hapū, Iwi) capture, preserve, and share important information and histories into secure, whānau managed databases and servers.
Kaye-Maree has been exploring and working in the blockchain space for years now and has a multitude of connections across the tech space. When she pairs that with her indigenous community development background it gives her a solid understanding of how we as tangata whenua can engage with the technology in ways that enhance our culture and help us thrive.
In our wānanga we’ll dive into
* some of her key learnings in the space
* some trends of how indigenous people are engaging with blockchain technology
* ways that we as Māori can use the technology to protect our mātauranga and taonga
* the potential of indigenous blockchains and/or cryptocurrencies
We’ll also have a kōrero about how we as iwi taketake can influence development with these technologies so we can all benefit from them and thrive.
