Evergreen have reached the FAI Junior Cup Final for the third time after a 3–1 victory over Castlebar Celtic. They’ll play Coachford in the final after the Cork club beat Trim Celtic on penalties in the other semi final today.

Ethan Phelan put Evergreen 1–0 up in the first half, before Xoli Stafford doubled the lead in the 72nd minute.

Mark Cunningham pulled one back for the Mayo men with five minutes remaining, but within a minute Mikey Clifford struck to restore Evergreen’s two‑goal cushion and seal the win for the Kilkenny side.

Carlow karate athlete Brian Keating made history when he won the Irish Martial Arts Committee Outstanding Senior Athlete of the Year award at the national ceremony in Dublin.

His performances across 2025 and 2026 have set a new benchmark for Irish karate. Brian has enjoyed an exceptional run of results, including world titles both with Ireland and as an individual representing Carlow Karate Club.

His younger brother Blake is also one to watch, and we’re likely to hear plenty more about him in the years ahead.
