Speaking to KCLR News, Piltown Municipal District Chairman Cllr Pat Dunphy (FG) made an appeal to the public to stay off the pedestrian bridge over the River Lingaun on the Kilkenny/Tipperary border at Killonerry after a section of the bridge recently gave way.

A pier on the pedestrian footbridge over the River Lingaun linking Counties Kilkenny and Tipperary has collapsed, making the bridge unsafe for public use - and may well be condemned in the coming weeks.

However, the February meeting of the Piltown Municipal District was told that people continue to use the bridge, which forms part of the 104-kilometre South Leinster Way, much to the concern of local political representatives, including Piltown MD Chair, Cllr Pat Dunphy (FG).

South East Technological University (SETU) has launched its Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) (Hons) in Home Economics. Kilkenny's Fire Service has introduced Ireland's first purpose-built electric fire vehicle. The two-seater appliance was delivered last week and is now based at the city's Fire Station at Jamesgreen.
