Given the ongoing plague of mass shootings and the avalanche of women accusing powerful men of sexual misconduct, some are beginning to ask if there is a relationships between these different expressions of violence, as well as are struggling to confront the issue of “toxic masculinity.” But what causes some men to act out in toxic ways? What do we really know about how boys are being brought up in the culture today? And are mainstream cultural attitudes about boyhood actually doing damage to boys as they grow up to become men? KCSB’s Alex Casavant has the story.
