Mindfulness is the act of slowing things down, taking a deep breath, observing the exact moment you're in and being grounded in the present.
That includes while you're listening to this episode! Or any of our fascinating topics.
It sounds kind of easy, but it takes some practice, which is probably in part why we live such busy, hectic lives! We have to intentionally want to slow down and take the time to appreciate our environment and surroundings, and the things we have to be grateful for.
Fortunately, seniors are the ones best-placed to embrace this practice, and indeed it may be crucial to our health and well-being.
Beth Davalos is a licensed therapist and mindfulness expert, who also happens to be Founder and Principal of Sunshine Senior Counseling, based out of Maitland, central Florida but with outreach across the state. Therefore, she is an excellent guest to have on this week's episode, telling us about the importance of mindfulness and how we can apply it to our everyday lives.
She even leads me through a live session, right here on the podcast, which you can do as well!
Mindfulness is one of the best ways to combat stress, anxiety, fatigue, worry and just overall exhaustion. It's not some cure-all that fixes everything, but it sure helps us appreciate what we do have, and how to enjoy our time on this Earth, each and every day.
Do reach out to Beth if you need support, have questions or would just like to find someone to talk to. That's what her and her team are there for!For more information and resources, visit:
