A Soviet export from the early 70's that became a revered piece of science fiction, Solaris is considered by many to be a classic. But with a methodical pace an extended running time and plenty of heavy themes at its core, is it a prime example of intelligent filmmaking or is it a stodgy chunk of pretension?
More to the point, should we KEEP Solaris, preserving it in a cinematic cryo chamber for eternity? Or is destined to be fired out the pod doors and deleted in the empty void of space?
