Laura Berquist, the founder of Mother of Divine Grace School, gives a comprehensive explanation of why Classical education and Catholic education are essentially the same thing, whether it be homeschooling or a more traditional Catholic school. Proper intellectual formation gives a person the ability to acquire, understand, and use information on any subject in a wise way. A classic liberal arts education forms a man for life and not simply for a particular career or vocation. It is ultimately ordered to knowing and loving God and perfecting the intellect. Laura Berquist is the Founder and CEO of Mother of Divine Grace School, a Catholic, Classical Distance-Learning School centered around the Church's teaching that parents are the primary educators of their children. Laura was a pivotal player in the early homeschooling movement in the United States, publishing Designing Your Own Classical Curriculum in 1994, which drew from her homeschooling experience with her children as well her educational background from Thomas Aquinas College, and became the foundation of MODG. Laura's husband, Marcus Berquist, was a founder of Thomas Aquinas College, and Laura was a member of TAC's first graduating class.
