Join us for some Friday flavour, as we sit down with our special guest Eliza, all the way from the UK! This episode is all about Eliza’s story with being diagnosed at the age of 12 with a heart condition, to an escalation of being told she needs a heart transplant. It’s not what a typical teenager would be dealing with in life, but Eliza not only had the pressures of school and being a normal “kid”, but she was sick, tired, and desperately needed a new heart. She felt incredibly alone during this whole process and felt there is no one that could relate to what she was going through. For Eliza it was University, or heart transplant…

The waves of emotions Eliza faced gave her the strength to create her own platform to help others in her position. She had more in common with the 70-year-old on the cardiac unit within the hospital walls, than she did with teenagers her own age. She knows there are others out there that are going through a similar journey, but no community had ever been created, so that’s when “transplant chats with Eliza” begun.

Eliza has worked hard created this space and even has her own podcast! During her incredible journey, and even got to meet the Queen – you gotta tune into the episode to hear all about it!

For those who are medically challenged, a DCD heart is organ donation after circulatory death. This basically means, that organ donation occurs after death, where the circulation of blood has permanently stopped.
