In the early 1970's the CIA funded a program called SCANATE to study the possibility of psychic and paranormal abilities for intelligence gathering.
After receiving intelligence that the Soviet Union had been studying paranormal abilities and increasing budgets each year, the CIA determined that they must have had some kind of breakthrough to keep increasing the research budget. in 1972 research began at the Stanford Research Center under program directors Russell Targ, Harold Puthoff, and, one of the original test subjects, Ingo Swann.
The Program would undergo many project names such Sun Streak, Grill Flame, Center Lane, and finally Project Stargate.
Initiated by the CIA, the U.S. Army began investigation on the project under the name Gondola Wish in 1977 and Grill Flame from 1979-1986. The project remained a secret until journalist Jack Anderson published an article in April of 1984 exposing the possible top secret program. The Defense Intelligence Agency spearheaded the project from Ft Meade in Maryland from 1990-1995.
In this episode I will show you where you can find over 6,000 declassified documents on the studies conducted and introduce you to some of the major names and players attached to the psychic and paranormal project used for intelligence gathering.
