Hard to find a yardstick these days. But they're worth their weight in gold on a road trip.

With fewer chapters ahead than behind, it's time to get on with it.

My father tells the stories about catching, killing, and cleaning them. My kids order them from Shipt. Wow, how times have changed.

They spend their days and nights focusing on their kids - often fully grown men and women but the parents have nothing better to do.

Is it right that I hold these people to the same standards that I was held to back in the day?

It's been a long time since I've taken my kids to school. During those rides I made them listen to music I selected. They remember those songs. I wonder if they're still listening to their father. 

Normal people go bananas over a rubber chicken when I show it to the crowds from atop my Mardi Gras float. 

Too many people say they don't "get" Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras is a big deal. And it is frivolous. That's the best way to understand it. 

On Valentine's Day today, I offer my daughter some simple advice - keep it small. Take it easy. Don't do anything foolish. What can look like a good idea at the time, in time, can look foolish.

"Look a bass in the eyes when you catch him. If he's looking up, fish top-water. If he's looking down, fish worms." Joe was getting a meal before heading out night fishing. He cleaned his catch and gave it all away.
