As a result, a traumatized person can feel that they are at the mercy of the world around them. In this workshop, we will explore the impacts that traumas have on the mind, body and spirit as well as the most relevant research-based practices for mind-body healing and integration.

Retired Detective Justin Boardman was in Law Enforcement for 15 years. For seven years, he was been assigned to the Special Victim’s Unit. During his first year in Investigations, Justin was awarded Investigator of the Year, conducted nearly 300 forensic child victim interviews, and 140 adult sexual assault victim interviews.

Justin co-authored (along with Donna Kelly, Utah Prosecution Council) a Trauma-Informed Victim Interview protocol for adult victims of sexual assault. This new protocol uses the Neurobiology of Trauma to gain additional information to be used in the investigation. This process has been studied and has shown to increase prosecutions along with procedure changes.

Cassandra Billiot is a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) who works with the St. Tammany Parish Coroner's Office in Louisiana. You may not know much about what happens and why during an evidence gaining exam, but Cassandra is here to give the details that set your mind at ease. Exams don't have to be scary, and if you are worried about who gets involved, she can set the record straight. She's in the real life of forensics and what you'll hear is pretty cool!

During this episode we talk with Jody Plauche'. He has written a book that has been recommended by many to any parent with minor children. Recounting his own experiences, he brings light and insight into the way predators gain trust and can take advantage of children.

Shift Change is a non-profit in the New Orleans area vested in promoting education and visibility in regards to sexual harm reduction and sexual harassment. Mark Schettler is the co-founder and tells his story and why this organization is so important to have in our community.

In August, Kelli and Josef visited LSU's main campus to discuss what Title IX is and how it affects students and faculty. They talk with Jennie Stewart who is LSU's Title IX Coordinator working with their 9 campuses statewide.
