For over 26 years, she worked in public education as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal. Cassandra is currently an instructional coach for an educational not-for-profit organization. She is a freelance writer and publisher of two books and two blogs. Cassandra has a B.A. in Political Science, a M.A. in Teaching, and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Leadership. She lives in Northern Illinois. During her free time, Cassandra enjoys photography, travel, hiking, and dancing.

Ayesis Clay is a distinguished arts educator, multidisciplinary theatre artist, and educational consultant. Recently she served as a Featured Speaker for the National Educational Theatre Association and for SMART Technologies Summer Reboot Conference. With over 19 years in education, she has held many school and district leadership positions including Theatre department chairperson for the largest magnet program in Prince George's County Public Schools (the 25th largest district in the U.S.), chairperson for Prince George’s County Schools Theatre Advisory Board, and served as Co-Founder and Co-Director of the PGCPS Honor's Theatre Ensemble. She has also written and developed curriculum for PGCPS, Maryland Department of Juvenile Services, and many local and regional theatre companies.  Her professional artistic work includes acting (stage, film, and television), directing, and playwriting. Influenced by her work in education, she wrote Standing on the Edge (a play that explores the challenges experienced by high school-aged students) and a one-woman show, Sculpting Clay or How I Became Mother of Unicorns (an autobiographical look at a teacher’s battle with secondary traumatic stress and the complicated and often dark realities that her students face). Both productions have toured schools and theaters across the United States and her solo show has played at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.  Combining her extensive background in theatre and education, Ayesis founded Sculpted Clay Productions, where she uses innovative theatre-infused residencies and professional development workshops to help schools create positive and trauma-sensitive school culture for teachers and students. She continues to strive for an increased spotlight on teacher and student mental wellness by inspiring deeper conversations around creativity and humanity in education, as well as complex and important topics like secondary trauma and burnout.
