When one luminary blocks another, as happens during an eclipse, we experience significant shifts in energy. This New Moon solar eclipse will create a hunger for progress and beginnings. 

This eclipse is in Aries, the cardinal fire sign of the Zodiac, and will activate themes of initiation and momentum. There is a restlessness and desire to move forward under this New Moon eclipse. This New Moon eclipse in Aries is also the last of a pattern of Aries eclipses that began in April 2023 and is now winding down and ending. This could signal the slow down and then end of a particular goal, plan, or obsession.

Venus is currently retrograde and will remain that way until April 12. Mercury also stationed retrograde on March 15. 

Since Venus is retrograde less than any other planet, these periods are more poignant and potent. During this ‘backwards’ movement, you can expect a re-evaluation of your pleasures and desires and tweaks to your existing relationships. Venus moves from Aries to Pisces in late March so expect a shift in the affected Venus areas of your chart, with Venus in Aries likely the more challenging of the two placements.

Mercury is retrograde from March 15 to April 7. Mercury will also move from Aries to Pisces during its retrograde cycle. When Mercury is retrograde, it is a great time for catching up on things. Mercury is more at home in Pisces so expect a little more ease during this part of its retrograde movement.

Venus conjunct Saturn often brings a sense of work first, pleasure after.  This is a time where keeping our promises and commitments is important. Venus conjunct Saturn removes rose-coloured glasses that might be tinted your perspective, especially in close partnerships and relationships.  This pattern is just beginning and will be revisited in April of this year as Venus again moves into a conjunction with Saturn.

After an unusually long two-month stay in Sagittarius, Mercury moves into Capricorn on January 8. This is an improved placement for Mercury.  This is likely to help you become a little more grounded in your words and your plans. Mars will be retrograde from December 6 to February 23. Mars will start its retrograde period in Leo and then move back into Cancer in early January.   This will give the next few months a sense of stalled progress or sluggish movement. In general, Mars retrograde is a great time to review how you express your needs and wants and how you assert yourself. Cards will also oppose Pluto to add some power dynamics to the mix.
