After a lot of thought and prayer on Friday and Saturday, I've chosen to, once again, broadcast Wednesday's regularly scheduled County Commission meeting.
This was a difficult decision strongly opposed by Melvin, but the people need to hear what their Commissioners are doing in public. There are elections coming for two seats on this Commission, and we cannot take our eyes off what this Commission is doing for a second. Accountability to the public and the citizens matters. They are acting in their own personal interests and not in the interests of the majority of the citizens who elected them.
As a broadcast station, KELY is licensed to serve in the Public Interest, Convenience, and Necessity. Broadcasting these meetings not only fulfills those requirements, but it is the right thing to do.
