Yorkville is once again hosting a Makers Market to showcase artisan craft goods this weekend in Riverfront Park.

After approving 20% annual water rate hikes for 5 consecutive years, Yorkville is considering even steeper rate hikes. It all comes down to incoming construction bids being low and the city's federal loan getting out of "limbo" on the $224.4 million Lake Michigan water project.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday in the parking lot of State Rep. Stephanie Kifowit’s district office in Aurora.

Laureano I. Mora-Diaz, 37, was taken into custody Thursday by the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office and members of the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force.

For new subdivisions, the village of Oswego establishes special service areas that can cover the costs to maintain common areas including landscaping, stormwater service and paths.

The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, purchased the winning ticket at the Oswego BP, located at 2791 U.S. Route 34

The popular downtown bridge at Riverfront Park in Yorkville will be periodically closed this week as city staff completes brick pathways improvements along the entrance area. The work is part of a months-long project in along the pathway and plaza.

A settlement has been reached with resident John Bryan who sued the city of Yorkville and the developers in an attempt to halt construction of the project.

At Tuesday’s Oswego Village Board meeting, village trustees approved providing up to $340,000 in direct financial assistance along with a $300,000 loan.

Concert goers in Montgomery will have to wait a little longer to hear the legendary Wayne Messmer for the village’s America 250 Celebration Concert in the Park. The village postponed the concert to July 1 due to the forecasted thunderstorms this evening.
