God’s word ishis final word

 Luke 16:19-31

 

Death is final; we need to respond to God in this life (v19-26)

God has revealed the path to eternal life in his word (v27-29)

God’s word is his final word: there will be no more ‘signs’ (v30-31)

What can we learn from the three characters in the parable (the rich man, Lazarus and Abraham)?

Abraham, an ordinary man… that God made promises to

God tested Abraham (22:1)

And the New Testament helps us understand this test

Abraham reasoned that God could even raise the dead (Hebrews 11:17-19)

Abraham’s faith was made complete by what he did (James 2:20-24)

In the beginning God created … (1:1)
