Throughout history the church has been marked by people that have made history - people who refused to sit back.  Today we will be looking at Nehemiah and his resolve to do the work of God no matter the obstacles… and today, you will be challenged to take a fresh look at your life to see how God wants to use you.

As a follower of Christ, you will experience ridicule. Often times followers of Christ will go to great lengths to avoid being persecuted for their faith, to the point that their faith has become private with no risk or engagement with the outside world. This week we will give practical advice on how to deal with persecution, explain what is commonly mistaken as persecution, and how to be influencers with the people in your life.

For many, their life’s purpose is to get a good job, raise a good family, accumulate wealth and retire. For followers of Christ, God has given purposes that are so much deeper with eternal meaning. As a people of purpose, we have a deep calling to Christ and to reach people with His life giving message. As we reach others, it is important that people see our belief in action.

Your speech, conduct, relationships, thought life, sexuality, finances, parenting, future planning, how you spend your time, sacrifice, you name it, will be different than the world’s value system. 

Followers of Christ are not just peculiar people, they are citizens not of this world.  In a world that is asking for our conformity, God is asking his people to swim against the current and set their lives apart for His purposes.

Often times the trials in our life can reveal the quality of our faith. Too often people are placing their faith in the wrong things. Today’s message will encourage you to see your trials as a leverage to grow your faith resulting in joy that cannot be defined by the rest of the world.
