But now researchers with the National Institutes of Health are offering cold, hard cash to healthy adults willing to catch the flu. It’s part of an NIH study of how the flu virus works and how best to control it. ABC's Jim Ryan joins Tony with the details.

Federal Judge Myron Thompson has blocked an Alabama law set to go into effect in mid-November that would all but ban abortions in the state. He ruled that it is “clearly unconstitutional”. The law would make performing an abortion in AL a felony crime in nearly all circumstances. There are no exceptions for rape and incest. Energized by new conservatives on the US Supreme Court, Republican-led legislatures in several states have enacted new restrictions on abortion. Most of the measures have been thrown out by judges. Conservatives hope to get the Supreme Court to revisit the landmark 1973 Roe v Wade decision that legalized abortion nationwide. CBS News' Jim Krusula is following and joins Tony.

Americans collectively owe nearly $1.5 trillion in student loans — more than twice the total a decade ago. But now a small but growing number of employers are stepping in to help. About 8% of employers are offering student loan repayment assistance this year, according to the Society for Human Resource Management. That’s up from 4% in 2018 and 3% in 2015. Companies like Estee Lauder, Hulu and Fidelity Investments provide a form of loan repayment programs. Employers format repayment assistance in a variety of ways. Some offer a match of employee payments while others offer a flat contribution amount, both up to a threshold. Several companies say their programs have proven an effective recruitment and retention tool, particularly in this tight labor market. ABC's Cheri Preston joins Tony with a look.
