Hey there! Are you looking to get a KYU number in Kentucky? Well, you're in luck because we're licensed and registered with the state to handle all your KYU application needs.
But hold on, we've got an important notice for you. Starting now, you're required to complete the UCR registration for the year you first got your USDOT number, regardless of when your MC number became active. So let's say you got your USDOT & MC numbers on December 31, 2020, but didn't start operations until 2021, you still need to complete the 2020 UCR. No exceptions, folks!
Now, here's the deal. It may take 1-2 days, or even longer, for the KY registration system to process your new UCR registration. So if you just finished your UCR registration, there might be a slight delay in getting your shiny new KYU number.
If you happen to be driving through Kentucky in a commercial vehicle with a registered GVWR of 60,000 lbs or more, you'll need a KYU number or a temporary KYU permit. And guess what? A ten-day temporary permit will cost you around $46. You can grab one directly from KY.
Just so you know, the KYU number issued by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is a one-time weight distance tax license, so no yearly headaches. However, you do have to keep a vehicle inventory for your KYU number, listing all your trucks and making updates as needed. And don't forget those quarterly returns based on the miles traveled in Kentucky.
Now, let's talk about permits and registrations. Our Kentucky KYU # Registration includes the application and our processing fees to get your UCR registration sorted. The cost of the UCR registration will depend on the number of trucks you have operating outside your home state.
To get your KYU number, you'll need to have completed UCR registration for all your years of operation, past and present. Plus, your USDOT number needs to be active. And of course, we'll need all the info for your trucks, including those license plate numbers.
So, ready to get your KYU number? We've got you covered!
We offer full trucking authority packages to make the launching of your trucking company business go more smoothly. The Department of Transportation regulates safety so doing it right in the begging is very important.
