The calm before the storm is about to abide.  No real regional sports to talk about over New Year’s Day.

But we’re close to college basketball conference play with the OVC and SEC about to get in the thick of things.

In the SEC Kentucky gets underway on Tuesday with Ole Miss at Rupp.  That game, and ALL UK games will be heard on WKDZ FM.

More and more talk about the Cats going undefeated, at least in conference regular season and tournament play.

And fans of the Cats look back at just how this magical team came together.  Yes, Kentucky had THE number one recruiting class in the country coming in, but the day that Willie Cauley Stein announced he was coming back, and the day the Harrison Twins announced they TOO were coming back, should end up being holidays in Kentucky.

Willie Cauley Stein has developed into one of the top players in the country, and some argue he IS the top player.  The Harrisons added solid players in an already strong spot and set up what possibly could end up being one of the most powerful teams EVER in college play.

With WCS rising in draft potential, the Harrisons have seen THEIR NBA stock plummet, particularly after the Louisville game, and some mock drafts don’t even have them being drafted.  Could that set up a THIRD season for them at Kentucky?

John Calipari was asked about the Twins and why they’re playing poorly as of late.

As for the twins, they have PLENTY of time to play themselves back into NBA draft contention.

This weekend, Austin Peay is at Ole Miss tomorrow afternoon, Murray State is at Morehead tomorrow night, and Western Kentucky hosts Marshall on Sunday afternoon.

Now, back to the Titans and our final day of recapping their 2 and 14 season.  Coach Ken Whisenhunt says he is certain that things WILL get better.
