Kentucky Weather: 02-20-2026

Listen Later

Good evening, folks! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the Kentucky Weather Podcast. It's Friday, February 23rd.
Here's the deal. Eastern Kentucky decided to skip straight to April today. 68 degrees with a gusty west wind at 13 miles an hour. Meanwhile, the rest of the state is stuck in the mid to upper 50s, wondering what it did wrong. That's a 10 degree spread just across the I-64 corridor.
Let's take a drive. Start in North Central Kentucky, the coolest kid in class at 55 degrees. Winds around 9 miles an hour. Tonight you're dipping into the upper 30s. Head south toward Bowling Green and South Central sits at 57 degrees. Light winds, clear skies, lows near 40. Slide over to Central Kentucky and Lexington's enjoying 58 degrees. Same story tonight, lows around 40.
Now drive east. That's where the magic happens. 68 degrees feels like somebody opened an oven door. Perfect weather for a Friday evening porch sit if you ask me. Tonight drops to 45, so you'll want a light jacket after dark.
Here's what's coming your way this week. That warmth in the east? A cold front crashes the party overnight. Saturday knocks everyone back to the mid 50s statewide. Think of it as Kentucky hitting the reset button. Sunday bounces back nicely though. Upper 50s to near 60 under sunny skies. Early next week stays dry and seasonable. By Wednesday, highs climb into the 60s. We're gaining almost 3 minutes of daylight every day now. Spring is inching closer.
One quick note. Air quality is moderate right now. If you've got sensitive lungs, maybe keep the evening jog short.
Alright. If you're enjoying these daily updates, share us with a neighbor. Word of mouth keeps this thing going, and we appreciate every single one of you.
Stay safe out there, folks. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
