Pinky Ghelani is on this episode of Kenyan Stories.
There are people who come into our lives and have an impact that lasts for decades. My guest on this episode is that kind of a person. When I was a teenager with dreams of bringing grand festivals to the city of my birth, Nairobi, my guest took her time to show me throw the ropes. That was over two decades ago.
Today, Pinky Ghelani wears many hats, a noted public speaker, a thought leader, a campaigner, an animal lover, a mother, spouse, and inspiration to many. While this interview covers a small part of her life, please find her on the socials and support the courses that she is pursuing.
She is @pinkyghelani on all the socials, also a supporter of UNHCR, a former speaker @TEDx. Some of her key values are: Positive Empowerment. Inspire your mind. Nourish your soul. Kindness is key. Your vibe attracts your tribe.

Dead Prez
Dead Prez, is an American hip-hop duo composed of Stic Man & M-1, formed in 1996 in New York City. They are known for their confrontational style, combined with lyrics focused on both militant social justice, self-determination, and Pan Africanism. I should not have a favorite, but my favorite song by the duo is Mind Sex, a hip hop take on sensual love I think. Enjoy the performance.

The late Ayub Ogada was regarded as one of the greatest Kenyan artists of all time. He was born in 1956 in Mombassa as Job Seda, a descendant of the proud Luo people of western Kenya. At six, his parents took him to Chicago, where his father studied medicine. Ayub recalls meeting Muhammad Ali (then Cassius Clay), and experiencing the aftermath of American segregation, even as his parents toured college campuses performing Luo music at a time when the term 'world music' was unknown in commercial circles.

Ian Kamau
I went back to my archives about a decade ago and dug up from the Lost Files, interviews I did of the dubbing personalities, artist, music, film, business, and the all-around scene in Nairobi, Kenya. Remember, all these sessions were recorded on mobile phones when that was not even a thing yet. In this Kenyan Story episode, Ian Kamau a Trinidadian- Canadian makes his homecoming for a massive spoken word, Hip-hop, and massive concert. Ian Kamau is a Canadian writer, hip hop, and spoken word artist, writer, designer, and visual artist from Nairobi, Kenya. Born: Toronto, Canada Genres: Canadian hip hop, Spoken word.
Please enjoy.
We shall overcome.
