Kerisme Vere- a new & different approach to 12 step support

Listen Later

it was with great pleasure that I met with Keirsme. I am always on the lookout for guests with hope to offer, and especially with a message of hope that can differ from my own.

Kerisme whole program focuses on a loving kindness approach to self care.

On her journey to recovery, after attempting to resurrect her life through 14 years of 12 step recovery, her old demons came back to haunt her, and Kerisme fell to those demons, overcome and overpowered by unwanted memories, She  lost her recovery time and almost her sanity.

But, Kerisme is made of stronger stuff and she understood that any addiction or dysfunctional behavior is a manifestation of  something deeper and she would need to address that if she were to find peace.

Like with my  program, her program focuses on a more holistic solution. The beauty of her program is that Kerisme targets as much as possible, menially, emotionally, physically, spiritually, financially and environmentally.

A key concept in her working with others, is that it is not one fit for all. Granted when we talk about our addictive coping skills, the base line has to be total abstinence. But with conditions that are more manageable the 80% - 20% approach can be highly effective.

if your client is lets say addicted to their phone, it might be an impossible ask to suggest they stop completely, but  maybe you set a healthy boundary where they are to hold strictly to an 80% phone free periods, and 20% of agreed free time and space.

No more 'I got to' or 'I have to' ; this is about being kind to self, and making the journey  achievable and as pleasant as possible, while getting to one's goals.

I do hope you find comfort and encouragement to continue on the journey of life and with Kerisme in your corner, i believe things will begin to get easier.
