Welcome to the Daily Daf Differently. In this episode, Rabbi Abby Sosland looks at Masechet Ketubot, Daf 68.
Of course, the Gemara recognizes, it’s not ideal to give Tzedakah to a swindler who is only pretending to need it. But it is far worse to harden our hearts and miss giving to those who actually do need it. Our daf offers a rabbinic argument for offering the needy the benefit of the doubt.
